My Claim to Discovery of How Earth’s Magnetic Field Is Produced, How It Reverses, Related Items, and Energetics Involved in Earth’s Magnetic Field

The Geomotor theory has always been associated with my theory of the origin of the earth’s magnetic field. This theory is that the heat of the interior of the earth causes ionization of billions of atoms into positive and negative charges that form two separate locations of charges. The inner charges are positive charges and the outer charges are a spherical cloud of electrons. The rotation of the earth then generates magnetic fields due to the charges in motion.

Back in 1974[1] and 1976[2], I described a method of mimicking the earth’s magnetic field using two DC power supplies and two concentric electric coils in a plane perpendicular to the earth’s axis. Current in one coil is made to flow eastward and current in the other coil is made to flow westward. The westward flowing current simulates the effect of positive charges going eastward. The two references include an equation containing six parameters which govern the intensity of the earth’s magnetic field at the center of the earth. Additional equations include the energy required to produce the earth’s magnetic field.

This model involves current variations necessary for magnetic-field reversals. However, the model lacks a key consideration: the motion of the charges relative to an observer on the surface of the earth. Without this factor, the current variations are not able to cause reversals because there are approximately the same quantities of  positive and negative charges. The addition of the effect of relative motion of charges in the earth is described in references 1993[3], 1994[4], and 1995[5]. These references also explain the mechanism that produces reversals of the earth’s magnetic field.

I contributed another significant advance to the Geomotor theory in 2004[6] by proposing that there is a force produced by the earth’s magnetic field when a charged particle moves with a component of its velocity perpendicular to the earth’s magnetic field. This is related to the mass spectrometry effect. Charged particles moving accordingly within the core will generate a force that will tends to move the solid core. Solid core movement has been determined to have occurred in the past[7].

When the earth’s magnetic field reverses, the force vector changes by 180 degrees. Then instead of energy being put into increasing the core rotation, the force will tend to decrease the speed of rotation. This leads to global cooling instead of global warming as the earth is experiencing at present.

In summary, the Geomotor theory advocates ionization, separation of charges, and rotation to produce the earth’s magnetic field.  I developed an equation that contain six parameters involving distance (distance from observer to the rotating charges), time (velocity of charges relative to observer), both positive and negative charges, and energy required for ionization and separation of charges. Next I determined the effect of positive charges moving in a magnetic field. I utilized the mass spectrometry equation involving H (magnetic field), v (the component of velocity of positive charges), and F (force exerted on positive charges in the solid and liquid core). These three vectors are mutually perpendicular. When the magnetic field of the earth reverses, the force (F) reverses direction, resulting in global heating or global cooling on a geological time scale. The present period of global heating involves 10,000 years from the melting of the glaciers and probably 500,000 years from the previous period of reversed polarity. When the magnetic field reverses again, the force (F) will be oriented 180 degrees from the present, decreasing the kinetic energy of the core, resulting in global cooling and a future glacial period. Tall oaks from little acorns grow[8]

  2. Reversals of the magnetic field.
  3. Energy input due to mass spectrometry effect.
  4. Reduction of energy input due to reversal.
  5. Glacial periods of the future.
